Quiz Topics

Here are the topics for the last quiz:

-The Mean Value Theorem (know what it says)
- Newton's Method (be able to use it to find roots of a function)
-L'Hospital's Rule (be able to use it to evaluate limits)

Quiz #7

Here are the topics for the quiz on Tuesday 11/17:

-related rates problems
-linearization: know the formula and be able to use it to approximate functions at different values (ex. approximate ln(1.2) using the linearization of ln(x) at a = 1)
-definition of absolute max/min, local max/min
-be able to find the absolute max and min of a function on an interval

Quiz #6

Topics for Tuesday's Quiz:

-Implicit Differentiation
-Chain Rule
-Derivatives of the following functions: a^x, log_a(x), ln(x), sin^-1(x), cos^-1(x), tan^-1(x)

Note: You still need to remember the old derivative rules and applications (ex. finding the equation of a tangent line, instantaneous velocity).

Quiz On Tuesday 9/29

Remember that there will be a Quiz during X-Hour on Tuesday 9/29.

This quiz will ask you to solve a few problems (similar to the homework and examples done in class) and state 1-2 definitions or equations (from class).

Here are the topics that will be covered:

-definition of a slope
-2 equations for a line (point-slope form, slope-intercept form)
-simplifying expressions (#1-16 from algebra review packet)
-adding/multiplying fractions (#17-26 from algebra review packet)
-radicals (#77-82 from algebra review packet)
-exponents (#83-100 from algebra review packet)

Remember: NO calculators or notes may be used during the quiz.
